TOKYO, Japan - This photo shows Citizen Watch Co.'s new timepiece under the luxury Campanola Dual Time series, which features Japanese lacquerwork. An artisan of the country's traditional Aizu painting worked on the CTU57-1242 by meticulously painting deep crimson lacquer on the face in layers, claims the company. The watch, marketed on Aug. 20 and carrying a price tag of about 378,000 yen, is also characterized by its roundish glass cover and smooth silvery body.

Citizen Watch devises smallest PDA

TOKYO, Oct. 27 Kyodo - Photo shows what Citizen Watch Co. says is ''the world's smallest, thinnest and lightest personal digital assistant (PDA).'' The PDA is 90 by 60 millimeters with advanced e-mail functions targeting business users, Citizen Watch said. Although no bigger than a business card, the new device has a screen twice as large as a mobile phone display. The major watchmaker will release the new PDA for 20,000 to 30,000 yen early in 2004.

Citizen to sell anniversary watch

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows a wrist watch Citizen Watch Co. will put on the market on July 10 in memory of the 25th anniversary of the U.S. major league baseball club Seattle Mariners. Citizen said it will produce 2,500 pieces of the watch, which will carry a price tag of 35,000 yen. The watch bears the carved signature of Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki on the back.

Citizen to release interactive diver's watch

Citizen said Sept. 17 the new product will enable divers to exchange data with computers as well as with each other. It can be used up to depths of 200 meters and can exchange data such as depth and water temperature using non-contact infrared connection technology. Citizen plans to sell the watches at 100,000 yen each.
